Filipino figure skater Sofia Frank wins bronze in Colorado before Olympic qualification

MANILA, Philippines – Pro-American figure skater Sofia Frank showed her readiness ahead of her Olympic qualification later this month.

Frank recently took the bronze medal at the 2021 Colorado Springs Invitational.

The 15-year-old, born to a Filipino mother and an American father in Los Angeles, collected a total of 90.13 points to reach the podium in the women’s free skating senior class.

Courtney Hicks dominated the event with 100.53 points while Sonja Hilmer took silver with 95.85 points.

Frank is one of three Filipinos aiming to qualify for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which will be held February 4-20 next year.

She is competing for a ticket to China in the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, a qualifying event, scheduled for September 22-25 in Oberstdorf, Germany.
